K-pop rules the 2009 Asian Channel V Chart

Channel V, Thailand's first music channel recently posted their annual Asian TOP 50 Year End Chart for 2009 and K-pop dominated the charts.

It seems SM Entertainment is really popular in Thailand as the chart is littered with their artists including Super Junior, SNSD / Girls' Generation, TVXQ / Tohoshinki, and SHINee.

1 out of every 12.5 people got a ticket for Big Bang’s Big Show

The tickets for Big Bang's January concert, 2010 Big Show, went on sale on the night of the 28th on G Market. The 12,000 seats were sold out in five minutes!

And the competition was fierce. One person out of every 12.5 people got a ticket. That's less than a 10% chance of getting a ticket. 150,000 tried to get tickets but as you may have figured out only 12,000 of them succeeded.

I'm guessing their Korean fans have missed them so much they really tried hard this time. Who wouldn't? Big Bang members are also busy with some year-end shows but they are working extra hard on their concert preparations because it's been a long time since they've greeted their Korean fans together with all members present.

Seungri and Daesung thought of having a stage that reaches out further to the fans so they could be closer to them. No wonder these fans were dying to buy the tickets.

YG Entertainment said, "Big Bang didn't release an album this year but G-Dragon and Taeyang had their solo activities, they had a drama OST, and a Japanese album and expanded their fields. We are having many meetings to make this concert the best."

The concerts will be held from the 29th of January to the 31st. More tickets will be made available for the other days, so ticketless fans still have a chance.

2NE1 meets everyday heroes on MBC’s “Danbi” special

Over the past half year, 2NE1 has generated a large fanbase from their talent, charisma and personalities, but since the girls haven't really been featured on variety shows, it has been difficult for many to explore the personalities of the four members. On December 27, the fierce quartet were guests on MBC's Sunday Sunday Night special, Danbi Train 2009. Aside from 2NE1 TV and Strong Heart, this was the first time that the girls' offstage personas were featured.

On this show, the four girls met various heroes that lived in different parts of Korea for a day. Starting in Busan and making their way to Seoul, 2NE1 trekked across the country via train with MCs Kim Young Ma, Tak Jae Hoon, Ahn Young Mi and Kim Hyun Chul. Instead of choosing headlining names, MBC put everyday heroes in the spotlight, including an elderly lady who worked in the morning market and made meals for orphans in her community. 2NE1 also met an ahjumma who has donated 23 million won (nearly $18,000 USD) despite having a modest job in the ddeokbokki business.

When the girls returned to Seoul later that day, they performed a special stage with popular hit songs.

During the trip, 2NE1 revealed the people that they were thankful for in 2009. Dara teared up as she admitted, "I thank my members. I was not supposed to be picked as a member of 2NE1, but the three helped me improve my singing and dancing skills." Afterwards, MC Kim Yong Man asked Dara to say "Happy New Year!" in Filipino, and the idol complied cheerfully as her mood brightened again.

The other members also expressed their gratitude for various individuals - CL gave a shoutout to Blackjacks and Minzy thanked her parents.

TVXQ and Big Bang on Music Station Live

On the December 25th Christmas Special edition of Music Station Live in Japan, two of Korea's biggest groups, TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki and Big Bang were invited to be on the show.

Both groups had a brief interview and performed their hit singles, TVXQ performing Stand By You and Big Bang performing Gara Gara Go. Out of these two performances the thing that stood out the most for me was T.O.P.'s hair... he's got a huge fro.

Despite what TVXQ is going through at the moment, they performed admirably, always keep the faith! Merry Christmas everyone! Remember to visit both the ONETVXQ and BBVIP forums.

Big Bang 2010 Big Show Concert Promo Video

Last week, Big Bang revealed information pertaining to their "2010 Big Bang Concert Big Show." The concert will be held on January 29th, 30th and 31st of 2010 in Seoul Olympic Stadium.

Earlier today, g.market one of the sponsors of the event along with FILA released a promotional video for the concert(s).

2009 SBS Gayo Daejun is getting better and better - as new photos revealed, 2NE1 took over a school for a guerilla concert. The footage is to be aired on the 30th.
The girl group really took Korea by storm this year and they intend on doing a memorable performance for this event. A representative even said, "This will be the best guerilla concert yet. "

There are so many more performances to look forward for this show so everyone should be pumped!

Big Bang and SNSD top the annual charts!

Boy group Big Bang and girl group SNSD topped the 2009 Soribada charts under the category of "most searched"!

If you don't know, Soribada is the most used P2P music downloading program. In other words, it's the Korean version of Napster or Limewire. And from January 1 through December 23, the site monitors and logs all the key phrases and terms being searched to form a Top 10 List of the most searched artists. The data for the year has been reviewed and Soribada announced that Big Bang was the #1 most searched artist in 2009, which is quite surprising and amazing because they've spent a majority of their time in Japan rather than Korea.

Big Bang was searched about 415,000 times with Lee Seung Chul coming second at 386,000 searches. SNSD took third place with 257,000 searches, but what's more noteworthy is that their track Gee was the #1 most searched song.

Soribada expects Big Bang to win it again next year due to their comeback plans in Korea, but they say that girl groups may have trouble reaching the Top 10 in the new year due to many solo comebacks and debuts that are bound to amass a huge success. They said, "Next year, Lee Hyori will be finally releasing her album after 2 years and Jewelry's Park Jung Ah and Seon In Young are going solo so we're very eager for that."

1. Jaejoong wants to marry a fan- he believes that he`ll end up marrying a fan anyway.
2. Jaejoong wants 2 daughters and 1 son while Junsu wants 2 sons and 1 daughter. Yunho wants 5 sons and 20 daughters – Junsu says “Think of your wife!” and Jaejoong says “Are you trying to kill somebody?”
3. Junsu thinks that dating and marriage are the same thing because he sees the girl he`s dating as his future wife. Kim Hyun Joong & Kim Yuna are the most marketable CF models of 2009

SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong and figure skater Kim Yuna have been voted as the most marketable CF models for 2009. On December 21st, marketing website ADwaple released the results for a poll that ran from November 30 to December 13th, which asked 10,000+ people to rate the most marketable CF models of the year.

Kim Hyun Joong took the top spot among the male celebrities, beating out Lee Minho and Lee Seung Gi and garnering 27.1% of the votes. Kim Yuna was the big winner in the female category with 34% of the votes, placing SNSD and Lee Hyori in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

In the idol group category however, SNSD managed to take the top spot.

TVXQ place third in highest earning Japanese artistes in album sales in 2009

Popular group TVXQ place third in highest earning Japanese artistes in album sales in 2009.

According to Oricon’s ‘2009 Oricon Yearly Ranking’ that was released on the 18th that accumulates all singles, albums and DVDs, TVXQ placed third after Arashi and EXILE. 4th and 5th place went to B’z and the Beatles respectively.

Arashi, who placed first, earned a total of 14.6 billion Yen in single, album and DVD sales, and EXILE and TVXQ earned 12.93 billion Yen and 6.89 billion Yen (around 90.3 billion Won or $76 million) respectively.

Oricon introduced TVXQ as “The group that made the biggest leap in 2009 and is continually growing at the fastest rate,” and said, “They were perfectly balanced in all areas and this was the year fans passionately supported them.”

It's official. Big Bang will be returning in January 2010 with a concert, known as the Big Bang "Big Show."

At G-Dragon's first solo concert (Shine a Light), the Big Bang members made a surprise appearance at the end of the show and performed, "Lies" and "Last Farewell."

After performing, Seungri hinted at a concert and G-Dragon confirmed, making the fans go wild.

A YG Entertainment rep stated:
"Towards the end of January 2010, we are planning to have Big Bang's 'Big Show' concert. We plan to have the 'Big Show' every January."

In addition YG Entertainment stated:
"Next summer, we are planning for Big Bang to return with a new album."

They're finally coming back as one. Girls y'all excited?
