2NE1 in Etude’s Pink Concert

Beauty brand, Etude, will hold their Pink Concert on August 20. Scheduled to appear are their Etude models girlgroup, 2NE1, and popular actor, Lee Min-Ho. The concert will be held at the Riverside Park, where aside from the concert, fun Etude games would be played as part of their campaign.



Lee Min-Ho, who is currently taking a break after finishing his drama, is greatly anticipated by fans, as this would be his first time directly meeting them, as part of Etude House. While girlgroup, 2NE1, who is also on hiatus as they are preparing for their full album, is expected to have a passionate stage for this special occasion.


In addition to the 2NE1 concert, plus the Etude make-up campaign, there are also other activities lined up, like photo sessions, and the appearance of a popular DJ, which is sure to guarantee a fun summer night.

YG Family to Heat Up This Summer

Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, and even Gummy. YG Family is heating up this summer in the idol world. As the representative of Yang Hyunseok expressed, it’s finally time for the “YG forces to mobilize themselves”.

In the first half of this year, the reason that there were no properly-made, hit songs was because the contents were simply led by fans demands were insufficient”, “Starting in July, this will all change with the comeback of the YG artists.”

398 Days: A Quiescent World Without 2NE1

398 Days or 56 Weeks and 6 Days…


That is the exact number of days that fans have been waiting for the return of our favorite KPop super rookies.


The spectacular mix of of sound that are uniquely their own, the bizarre display of colorful costumes that have become their signature, the bombastic live stage performance that drives fans dancing and singing along with them – we miss 2NE1.

We laughed with them in their happiest times, we cried with them when they shed tears of happiness for the success they achieved, we even shouts “Nolja!” with them when we wanted them to do well, and most importantly, we are there for them through everything and anything for 398 days now.



It seems like yesterday when we cheered for them when they blew the candles of the cake that symbolized their 100th day. They’ve grown so much from that day…

Seeing them perform is like watching the resurrection of what we call “Girl Power”, in the real sense of the words. A year later, although the girls are mostly missing in action, the mention of their names brings sparkles in our eyes and smiles in our faces. We have quiet some wonderful, funny and happy times with them.


Fans love them so much that we don’t really mind giving them the most expensive and luxurious gifts, and that is because they never fail to show us their love.


Updating her me2day almost daily, we are very much thankful to Dara for always being there when the cravings are way too much, when it feels like we could no longer stand waiting.


Even just a simple peek at stalker pictures of them makes the excitement even more worse. It is almost unbearable anymore. It is not the duration of the wait that is painstaking but the thoughts of uncertainties – when, what, how, why. So many questions, there are no clues for the answer.


Without them, it is one quiet world, void of life, of those hearty laughters, of colors and everything else that is 2ne1.


There are speculations here and everywhere, antis and lovers… – still, we miss 2NE1…

The summer belongs to the YG Family

Any fan of k-pop music is no stranger to big name labels like SM Entertainment and JYP.



But out of all these companies, the most unique and unconventional group is arguably YG Entertainment.


What with all these big name comebacks popping out of the blue, here’s a little recap of what’s in store.


We kicked off the new year with Big Bang member Daesung releasing his cute and bubbly solo single Cotton Candy. Soon after, girl group 2NE1 also released a single titled Try To Follow Me. After a 2 year long hiatus, YG’s killer R&B vocalist Gummy released her Loveless album.


YG has always been a bit unorthodox and big daddy Yang Hyun Suk is known for slapping fans in the face with a surprise. Within the past two days, a lot of heavy news has hit the k-pop scene regarding the YG family members.


First off, a promotional poster and music video teaser was released out of the blue regarding T.O.P’s solo single Turn It Up. Many fans were surprised and busy pissing their undies after watching this 27 second trailer. We thought that was it but YG is the gift that just keeps on giving.


Not too long ago, it was revealed that Taeyang would finally be releasing his first full length album titled SOLAR. With a whopping tracklist of 13, it looks like Taeyang will be heating up the summer. Starting from June 25th, for six days, a minute sample will be released of a new track everyday as it leads up to his July 1st album release.


Last but not definitely not least, we have one of k-pop’s original megastars Se7en. When k-pop began picking up momentum a few years ago, this man was one of the few who pioneered in a global audience. Anyone who loves k-pop has probably heard his breakout song Passion. And if you haven’t…go listen to it and familiarize yourself with Se7en because his June comeback has been pushed back but is now set to make his 3 year long return on July 21st.


We also have 2NE1 and Big Bang set to make a comeback with mini-albums. While it’s been confirmed that the boys will be closing the summer out with a bang at the end of August, there has been no further details about 2NE1’s summer bonanza.

Musician’s Choice – Sandara Park Enjoyed Listening to Fresh, Classic Pop Music in her Teens



Sandara Park (26), one of the four members of girl group, 2NE1, has the most refreshing voice in the group. While other members party it up and groove and pump to the music of stylish, black rap, Sandara has a clear, fresh voice that is heart-breakingly gentle most of the time. Because of this, fans think that she may be “playing by herself” but she has played the important role of neutralizing the black music with her own taste of pop music colors; thus, she emerged as the unique member to add freshness to the group.


“At first, our group’s style of music wasn’t my favorite style. That was one of the genres that I haven’t heard of much. But our leader, CL, who was both familiar and comfortable with the style, helped me a lot, for which I’m glad. Now I have fit in into the black music genre, so much so that it feels awkward if the song doesn’t have a rap.”


Now that she has mixed her own style of music into the music, it has become more refreshing. Understanding black music and infusing her own style into it, was not easy, but doing so has given her courage and confidence.


Many already know that Sandara Park had lived in the Philippines since she was in 5th grade of Elementary School. From that early age, she was so shy that she couldn’t even look at her classmates on their faces. “I didn’t even make friends or talk to the people in my class. I was bad in English, so I became very lonely; and when I became bored and gloomy, I turned to music while hiding in a dark room. Back in the Philippines, it was really easy to listen to the latest music from the United States. I guess that there wasn’t a day that passed when I didn’t listen to music.”


It was a “shocking incident” when the young, shy girl, who always crouched low in school festivals and bowed her head during group singing, went on and climbed the stage on one school festival. When she went on to debut in the Philippines, many people were suprised, saying “how could a girl who can’t even talk, sing?” amazing many. “I think that all the songs that I heard when I was alone, got stuck in my throat and wanted to get out. Around that time, the only place to do it was the school stage, and though I was afraid, I had to let the music out. That was the time when my passion for music opened, I guess.”


“The classic pop music I enjoyed in my teen days that influenced my fresh music today,” the subject for this week’s Musician’s Choice, has many meanings. It was the friend who comforted her during the difficult days and the main reason who influenced the person she is today. “Nowadays, people have grown up listening to black music, as opposed to me who grew up listening to pop music, and that’s why I can seem to show my own uniqueness. These classic pop songs are the ones that I frequently listen to when old memories come up, or when I’m exercising.”


Though Sandara Park and her group are on hiatus, she is still busy. Between their advertisement shoots, vocal and choreography practice, and even Japanese lessons, there is no time to rest. But she stresses that there are still so many things that she wants to do. “Singing is something that I already do, so I want to try acting and going on variety shows too. Honestly, I don’t think I do very well on variety shows, but I feel that they are really interesting and fun. Dae-Sung of Big Bang, has a lot of sense n variety shows, and his reactions to different situations are good; I really want to learn from him. Ho Ho!”

2NE1's whirlwind of activities for the past two weeks

Months of not seeing 2NE1 on music shows is causing melancholy in every Blackjack’s heart. The girls have been gone for so long that their quirky presence on stage is now being sorely missed by fans. In the past two weeks, though, the foursome did not fail in giving us little surprises that were more than enough to feed our hunger.


To kick off June, 2NE1 performed their hit songs in Seojong Center Performing Arts. Just a day after, they headed to Jeju Island’s Great CJ Only One Camp for another amazing stage. Dara attacked her fans with Me2Days featuring a very summer-y 2NE1 parading around the world-famous island and through the photos, she displayed her driving skills as she took over the wheel of their rented BMW, with the three girls joyfully tagging along.

During their stay in the island, the girls also experienced a yacht tour with MNET cameras predictably still on their tail, exponentially increasing the possibilities of a second season of the phenomenally successful 2NE1TV.

The four YG ladies left the island on the fifth of June but leaving did not mean the end of activities. YGE granted us a rare television appearance by none other than Dara. She came as a special guest for Goo Hye Sun’s stint on Win Win. She graced the show and impressed both Hye Sun and the program's hosts with her various charms. Even SNSD’s resident cutie, Taeyeon, had nothing but praises for our very own lovable dork. Three days after this series of events, a picture of an injured Dara worried fans everywhere. She stated in her Me2Day that she suffered from a second degree burn while cooking her favorite ramyeon snack. Good thing leader "CL-roo" was there to provide some TLC. Though still sporting a bandaged finger, maknae wanna-be Dara and real maknae, Minji, succeeded in bringing on the cuteness for their Happy Point stage, leaving the task to show the smexy on to Bom and CL who both wore short shorts for the said event.

The support for South Korean athletes does not end here for 2NE1. On June 13th, the unnies impressed not only baseball fans but also hungry Blackjacks when they showed up to pitch for the Lotte Giants. As expected with the Park Sisters, both still looked great despite publicly sporting baseball uniforms for the first time.

What was not expected though is a guerilla performance from all four girls right after Dara and Bom’s pitching for the Giants. For their first ever guerrilla performance, the girls wore similar outfits from their first 11st CF while performing Fire, I Don’t Care, Let’s Go Party and the maknaes’ powerful Please Don’t Go. Gift-giving seems to be the trend for 2NE1 this month as they are reportedly filming another ad for online shopping mall, 11st. It is highly uncommon for the girls to be so active as these past two weeks. Black Jacks all over the world are feeling tremendously well-fed. Now, all we need is an actual comeback or at least a confirmation for 2NE1TV season 2. 2010 seems to mark a turning point in kpop history where most idol stars are diligently working out to get toned bodies. Not just male beastly idols, a lot of female celebrities are also revealing their toned abs as well.





2NE1’s Sandara Park is just one of these many celebrities, and her trainer, Hwang, posted a photo on me2day of Sandara’s transformation.




Sadly, only the after photo was put up. The reason was revealed in Hwang’s comment, “After picture!^^ I won’t be able to upload the before picture” (implying that it was too embarrassing to put up).

Park Bom’s lettuce diet is a success

Earlier in March, 2NE1’s Park Bom was under the netizens’ scrutiny for seemingly gaining weight. Later in April, fellow member Dara posted up a picture of Park Bom nibbling on lettuce to lose weight. Fast forward a couple of months later, it appears as if her “lettuce diet” was a success!



Recently, Park Bom surprised fans with picture she uploaded onto her me2day. Along with the picture (bottom right), she left a message that reads, “Right now, I’m sitting on a massage chair in the recording studio fooling around. My glasses and my expression go well together, don’t they?” But, that’s besides the point.


Many netizens were surprised by how well her lettuce diet went, leaving messages like, “I didn’t know you could get such great results with the lettuce diet!” It seems like the netizens once again approve of her new look.


Personally, I didn’t think Park Bom looked any bit out of shape back in March. Nor do I approve of a lettuce-only-diet as it is bound to be unhealthy for your body as we need a daily intake of carbohydrates, proteins, and such (just in case you readers do try to attempt this “lettuce diet”). But keep in mind that Park Bom most likely did eat other foods than just lettuce.


Nevertheless, her new and “improved” look has got the netizens excited! Although there has been no official news yet of when their comeback will exactly be, it definitely looks like we have a comeback coming soon! Stay tuned as we bring you more 2NE1 updates!

Goo Hye Sun and Sandara Park are good friends?

The main guest star on today’s KBS 2TV Win Win was Boys Over Flowers star Goo Hye Sun. 2NE1’s Sandara Park also made a special appearance on the show and she revealed that she’s good friends with Goo Hye Sun.

Goo Hye Sun is under the same label, YG Entertainment and Sandara revealed that Goo Hye Sun quickly befriended her around 6 years ago. Sandara also read an email in which Goo Hye Sun wrote to Sandara while she was in the Philippines saying to be healthy and return quickly. As 2NE1 is currently inactive due to promotions, Sandara stated that she was happy that she was able to appear on TV after a long time because of Goo Hye Sun. Sandara Park also revealed that she wants to meet the F4 from Boys Over Flowers. If you can recall, Sandara Park already met Lee Min Ho through the Cass Beer promotions.

Sandara Park Reveals picture of Park Bom's thighs

Popular girl group 2NE1 member Sandara Park gained attention from fans by posting up a photo of fellow member Park Bom and her honey thighs.

Sandara revealed the polaroid style photos on me2day complimenting Park Bom’s beautiful leg line through unique jeans she wore at the time. Sandara also gave fans a small thrill by running a mini contest. She wrote, “Bonus~!! Park Bom’s charm definitely lies within her great leg lines! I will give this picture to a person who commented on this post. I will later reveal Park Bom’s favorite number and that post number will win this photo. Good luck!”

The answer was later revealed today to be number 13. Sandara happily commented, “Park Bom’s favorite number is 13. To the 13th person who commented, I will contact you soon.”

2NE1 celebrates their first year annivesary

It’s been a long time coming, but they’re here now. Actually, they’ve already been here–for a whole year to be precise. That’s right, YG Entertainment’s hot girl group 2NE1 is celebrating their first birthday! 2NE1 made their debut last year on this date with Fire.



So how did 2NE1 celebrate this joyous occasion? No doubt the group had their own little party but firstly they gave a shout out to the fans and each member even sent out individual relay messages through UFO Town.


The first to send a message was leader CL as she said, “If I got further from your sight I would be more in your head, but would you also slowly let me into your heart? (Am I being a bit corny? keke)^^”


2NE1’s adorkable member Sandara said, “Wassap messaging friends~! It’s me, ssantoki (meaning mountain rabbit with ’ssan’ being the pun of her first name)! ^.^ ke Thank you for being my friends and not leaving me alone for a year. Let’s continue to do so~! You will~right?!↗Promise!^^ We all congratulate this one year anniversary~! I heart~!^^;kyah! Embarrassing~!”

Oldest member Park Bom said, “Has it already been a year?? Oh~~~Freaking fast (crying emoticon) We’ve had a lot of happy, sad and heartfelt moments…and like that the year goes bye~~ I feel a bit wishy washy because it’s gone by (crying emoticon) But from now on it’s only the start so let’s have some fun and

Behind the scenes of 2NE1’s Bean Pole and Etude House photoshoot

Although popular girl group 2NE1 has been laying low, they have still been receiving many lovecalls from various companies. Two endorsements deals they recently snagged consist of fashion brand Bean Pole and cosmetic brand Etude House.



Some photos of 2NE1 for Bean Pole and Etude House were released earlier, but let’s go behind the scenes of both photoshoots to catch a better glimpse of the fierce foursome.







In an interview with SBS One Night TV Entertainment on the set of Etude House, member Sandara Park confessed, “There has been a time when I noticed the wide age gap in the group. During the photoshoot just now, I kept taking breaks to sit down.” She added, “At my age, I get tired easily,” receiving laughter for her silly commentary.



When asked which “team” between the unnies (Sandara Park and Park Bom) and dongsengs (CL and Minzy) was more childish, the vote indicated that the former acted like the younger ones.


Leader CL explained, “The unnies are rowdier than we are. They don’t act their age.”


Regarding their comeback, CL said, “We have returned to the practice room and are busily rehearsing. The process of creating our music is very natural so [a new song] could be released tomorrow or next year. We don’t know for sure yet.”
