G-Dragon releases Heartbreaker featuring Flo Rida

Back in August, Big Bang leader G-Dragon released his highly anticipated debut album Heartbreaker. Although the album was highly successful with sales of over 120,000 copies, there was some controversy with accusations of plagiarism. More specifically accusations that the title track Heartbreaker sounded a bit like Flo Rida’s hit track Right Round. Well this should put all the plagiarism accusations to rest.



When the tracklist for G-Dragon’s Shine A Light concert album was made public, it was revealed that Flo Rida would be featured in a special version of Heartbreaker on the 2nd CD. Now, the album has been released and it’s already on top of the Hanteo charts. The Heartbreaker track featuring Flo Rida is hot, check it out below. Thanks to jenpooable for the tip.

71 – Into the Fire movie trailer released

After the press conference last week, fans would be delighted to know that the trailer for the war movie 71 – Into the Fire has now been released by the production company.



The war movie is based on a true account of the Battle of Pusan Perimeter in August 1950. It revolves around 71 South Korean student soldiers (Kwon Sang Woo, T.O.P.) fighting against hundreds of regular North Korean soldiers (led by Cha Seung Woo) during the deadly Korean War.


The movie begun filming last November and will reach cinemas in June 2010.

Fahrenheit and Goo Hye Sun release Touch Your Heart MV

Earlier in January of 2010, popular Korean actress Goo Hye Sun was in Taiwan upon invitation by the Taiwan Tourism Organization to join in a project to promote tourism in Taiwan.

Goo Hye Sun’s popularity had soared after the conclusion of the drama Boys Over Flowers, especially in Taiwan where she was awarded the Best Asia Female Actress by Yahoo Taiwan last December.

For this project, she acted in the MV titled Touch Your Heart together with Taiwan’s hottest boy group, Fahrenheit where filming took place over 2 days. In the MV, you will see Goo Hye Sun being brought around by the Fahrenheit members and to famous tourist spots like Shilin Night Market, Beitou Hot Springs, etc.

The MV has finally been released on March 24th and Fahrenheit themselves will fly down to Seoul for a fanmeeting at the Melon Ax Hall on March 26th.



Besides meeting their fans, they will also help in promoting tourism in Taiwan and Goo Hye Sun will also appear as their special guest.


 


This MV is for the Japan market though which explains the Japanese subtitles.

Happy birthday dear 2NE1’s Park Bom! That’s right, today (yesterday in KST) is Park Bom’s 26th birthday!


On March 24th, me2DAY maniac Sandara Park congratulated Park Bom through her me2DAY, revealing a photo with her comments:


Park Bom is happy on her birthday!!! Ke ke ke ke. In the practice room, we had cakes and party ~~~ j/k we had a vocal lesson!^^ Ke. But she is happily rolling around on the floor after she received a gift we gave her. She says she is happy because she has us and you guys! Ke. Happy birthday! Now stop bothering me~!^.^keke


Fans and netizens who have read her comments replied back, “Happy birthday,” “Stop bothering Sandara Park~” and “It’s sad you guys couldn’t have a birthday party.”

Sandara Park is a fangirl of younger brother Thunder?

2NE1’s Sandara Park is currently conducting a 12 part interview dubbed Star Diary with Asia E. In Part 10 of the Star Diary, she talks about her relationship with younger brother and MBLAQ Member Thunder (Cheondoong).

With a dongsaeng who is walking down the same path as her, and dreaming the same dream as her, she is not alone in her celebrity life.


Sandara Park’s youngest brother is Cheondoong of MBLAQ. Although he overflows with charisma on stage, to Sandara Park, he’ll always be like a little kid.

“Cheondoong and I are six years a part. Starting from when he was young I’d carry him on my back and stuff and I always worried about him. Even still, when I see him perform on stage, it’s admirable. Isn’t he cute when he shows off his personal talents on variety shows?”


Cheondoong was added late into the group that Bi produced, MBLAQ. Because of this, he had to work twice as hard.

“Starting from when Cheondoong was young, he wanted to become a singer. He worked even harder than me at learning dance. I think he’s much better than me in terms of musical talent. (Laughs)”


While talking about Cheondoong, Sandara Park’s eyes were filled with love. 2NE1 members even said “Sandara Park is like Cheondoong’s stalker.”

“Cheondoong’s apartment is pretty far from ours so I can’t see him often. It seems like my brother’s busier than me. So we chat online and cam together online everyday. If I look at what Cheondoong is doing through webcam, the other members keep saying ‘She’s like one of his crazy fangirls.’”


Sandara Park’s Description – In 1993 when I was in Grade 3, piggybacking my baby brother Cheondoong behind the Daegoo zoo.

Sandara Park is sad that she can’t see Cheondoong often. Their activities are at different times so they can’t even meet at broadcasting stations.

“In television shows, Cheondoong says “Noona, buy me food”. After I see the show and tell him I’ll buy him food, he tells me ‘We’re working on a new album so I don’t have time’. I finally saw him during last year’s ending award shows. I took the snacks from our waiting room and brought them to MBLAQ. Cheondoong needs to eat a lot. (Haha)”

Rather than opposing how out of their three children, the oldest daughter and the magnae are doing celebrity activities, their parents support them. Because of their parents’ support, they were able to be acknowledged as celebrities and receive love from the public.

“While I lived in the Philippines, my mother was my manager. So she was always by my side. These days, she monitors me from home. I’m most scared for when my mom ‘points out things’”.

Sandara Park and Cheondoong are dreaming the same dream. Both want to make ‘Our Studio’.

“I always talk with my brother. How in the future, we’re going to build our own house. The first floor will be where we live with our parents, the second floor will be our studio. Truthfully, even though sometimes I want to stand on stage with my brother, we each have our own places to be.”

Daesung: “I’m adding a modifier to the word ‘dream’.”

”I think I’m going to be able to show a lot of variety in my solo album, from R&B ballads to happy jazzy songs like Cotton Candy. It’s been so much fun for me but I wonder if everyone else will love it as much as I do?”



This spring, Daesung is busy as hell. He has to prepare his solo album which is due for release this year, as well as practise his acting for writer Song Jina’s campus drama ‘What’s Up’, due to be aired in July.


”All these worries keep spinning around in my mind. I think to myself ‘It’ll turn out great’ but I keep worrying ‘How do I do this?’. I want to be complimented and loved but acting for a drama is really hard, it’s a lot different from musicals. There isn’t a proper script or fully developed characters or anything yet but the first thing we did was go on a camp with the writer and all the actors. (laughs)”


He says that any value of being ‘Big Bang’s Daesung’ will probably only last for a couple of seconds at most in a drama.


”To be honest, I think it’s true that any relatively famous singers who try to act will get certain benefits from the extra attention. But it won’t help for long. If they can’t act, people will think ‘This person sucks’ and turn their backs on them. ”


The thing that helped Daesung thrive in various fields was optimism nearly to the point of self hypnosis. He would say to himself ‘I can do this’ ‘I can do great’ over and over again. And he would discover a part of him that trusted himself.


”My dream is to become an entertainer. I want people to trust that I can do well no matter what task I’m given. I want to try my best in acting and singing, and do anything asked of me to perfection.”

Daesung says he’s going to add a modifier to the word ‘dream’ to always try to improve as an entertainer.


”Adding a modifier to the word ‘dream’. I heard it somewhere and kept it in mind since. If I said ‘I’m going to become a singer’, then my dream was accomplished the second I become a singer. But if I add a modifier and say ‘I’m going to become a singer who makes people happy’, then I have to keep trying. I want to make people smile even once when they listen to my music or see me acting, I want to become their shelter, their refuge. I want to become a person like that.”


Even at the young age of 22, Daesung has such deep thoughts and feelings. I bet he’ll continue to be loved by many as he smiles, worries, feels lonely, and puts in monstrous amounts of effort in everything he does.

What’s Big Bang up to?

One of Korea’s most famous boy groups Big Bang has been somewhat MIA as of late, and Korean VIP’s have begun to miss them dearly. It’s known to Big Bang’s fans that the group has been completing promotional activities in Japan, but these days, they’ve been missing from the Japan music scene as well.



After this month, it will have been a year and four months since Big Bang’s last Korean album. Furthermore, it’s been a while since we’ve seen the members complete solo activities. Taeyang promoted Wedding Dress for a short time months ago and Daesung recently ended his appearances Family Outing after the first season wrapped up. T.O.P’s appearance on IRIS ended a while ago and, the last time I heard these boys sing live was… um… that time… I give up, I can’t remember the last time I saw them perform live together.


But the boys have worked on some music together. They sang for their endorsement, Lollipop 2. They also sang Hallelujah for the soundtrack of IRIS. YG Entertainment is saying that Big Bang has been MIA from the public for a while, but they are working hard on upcoming projects and are very busy.


A YG associate said, “TOP is filming a movie Into the Gunfire at the moment. Daesung and Taeyang are exercising, learning foreign languages and working on solo songs. G-Dragon is making music whenever he has the time to. Maknae Seungri is attending college these days.”


So they are pretty busy these days but I’m still waiting on a new album to drop sometime this year. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed!

She uploaded this particular photo of her leader in a pink Care Bear costume saying, “If she needs to ‘up’ her mood, CL puts on her favorite pajamas and rolls around with her best friend.”

Big Bang wins Best Choreography Video at Space Shower MVA

The boys of Big Bang along with choreographer Shaun Evaristo won the Best Choreography Video award for their hit single Gara Gara Go at the Space Shower Music Video Awards in Japan.



Other nominees for the award included BoA, Miura Daichi, Rip Slyme, and Ikimono Gakari.

Is G-Dragon’s height really 177cm?

A screen capture from an Inkigayo episode has been making it’s round on forums in Korea and generating interest.



As you can see from the screencap above, it’s one taken from an Inkigayo episode where Big Bang’s G-Dragon won a Mutizen award for his Heartbreaker song.


What caught the eye however was the height of each individual person being specified in the screencap, and the height value was obtained from Korean portal sides of their profile information. But one funny point was that even though G-Dragon is listed as being 177cm tall and the female MC, Ha Yeon Joo at 171cm tall, the both of them looked like they were of equal height.


Some netizens felt suspicious and wondered if G-Dragon was really 177cm while others defended G-Dragon saying that Ha Yeon Joo probably wore high heels on that day. But then again, the height disparity between Wooyoung who is just 1cm taller than G-Dragon looks to be more than that, unless someone is wearing shoe lifts.

Meanwhile in other news, there were allegations by VIPs that a certain Serbian singer, Milan Stankovic had claimed in an interview that G-Dragon had copied his style and that he was thrilled that his fashion is a source of inspiration to people in other countries. But that allegation has been put down to rest as exageration by the Serbian media, with Stankovic praising Korea for being way ahead of Europe in everything and it’s funny that they look alike in another interview.

Big Bang’s T.O.P. shows his war scars from Into the Gunfire

Remember the war movie, Into The Gunfire starring Kwon Sang Woo, Cha Seung Won, Kim Seung Woo and Big Bang’s T.O.P.? We have heard nothing much about it since but the following will probably do enough to whet your appetite.



A press conference was held this afternoon at the filming set where the main cast members were present with their war makeup/paint. The media was also taken through the filming set as they filmed for the movie.


Into The Gunfire is a movie that’s about 71 South Korean student soldiers fighting against hundreds of North Koreans during the deadly Korean War. The movie begun filming last November and is scheduled to hit cinemas in June 2010

2NE1 reveals girl power on the Discovery Channel

In the past the Discovery Channel’s Hip Korea focused on the males of Korea by doing documentaries on Rain / Bi and Lee Byung Hyun. Now the focus has shifted to the females as the Discovery Channel recently aired a Hip Korea documentary on Korea’s superstar skater Kim Yuna. At the end of the documentary, the focus shifted from Kim Yuna and unto Korean Women adopting stronger personalities in modern Korean society. With the main example of this being heavily focused on YG Entertainment group 2NE1.


Old School YG Entertainment member Jinu Kim of Jinusean shared his insight on the subject and declared that 70% of 2NE1’s fans are females. The whole segment was pretty cool, check it out below and thanks to Marianna for the tip!
